Thoughts

Dear Karen, Even though I am far away on this day, my heart joins you closely today and days to come. I was very lucky to know you not only as a brilliant artist but as an extraordinary woman and beautiful soul. Thank you for being so inspiring, for sharing conversation and laughter (sometimes accompanied by a glass of wine or crement), your experience, knowledge, humour, talent, beautiful pot (which I treasure), positivity, energy and your kindness in life's challenging moments. Thank you for everything. Your legacy will forever endure and while your departure leaves an indelible void, your radiant spirit persists. My heartfelt condolences to Peter, Lola and Johnny. May love and cherished memories bring comfort during this difficult time, Luiza

Was walking in Hatfield Park (we live nearby) for the first time for some months on Sunday, and was recalling a walk there a few years ago with Karen and Peter. We talked about the strangely contorted shapes of the ancient oak trees, Karen’s eye operations, and no doubt many other things! Karen and Peter knew the Park well because of the annual pottery fairs that used to be held there (now sadly diluted to more general “arts and crafts” fairs). It is strange to think that Karen has gone - with all that energy and positivity. Moyna and I send our love to Peter, Johnnie and Lola.

I will remember Karen as a very warm, sometimes fierce and vibrant woman who had been a friend since meeting her with Derek over 30 years ago. We shared similar political views and the conversations were always stimulating and engaging. My last memory was of the 4 of us having a nice meal out last January. It's very sad not to be looking forward to another one, and my heart goes out to dear Peter, Johnnie and Lola...
